Dr. Carlos Belmar is an orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience specializing in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery, periprosthetic fracture care, and complex lower extremity trauma. He was among the first surgeons in Indiana to receive FDA approval for the use of Onkos 3D-printed custom implants for challenging knee revision cases.
Before joining Indiana Orthopedic Institute, Dr. Belmar practiced at Union Medical Group Bone and Joint Center in Terre Haute. He has also been serving as an assistant professor and adjunct clinical instructor at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and his orthopedic residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
A nationally respected expert in advanced orthopedic techniques, Dr. Belmar has more than two decades of experience performing computer-navigated and custom knee replacements, including Conformis systems. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).
